Subject: Maker's mark

Question
I recently purchased a ring described as red spinel from the 1930's. The maker's mark is JTC 343 with the T taller than the adjacent initials. I've noticed other questions regarding this maker's mark? Any idea who the manufacturer is? Thanks, Aileen

Answer
HI AILEEN,

THERE WAS A GROUP CALED THE "JEWELERS TRADE CLUB" FROM THAT TIME PERIOD BUT I'M NOT SURE IF THEY MANUFACTURED UNDER THOSE INITIAL. THE 343 IS PROBABLY THE STYLE NUMBER. THERE ARE MANY POSSIBLITIES FOR THOSE THREE LETTERS AND YOU COULD RESEARCH THAT 'ART DECO ERA' FOR OTHER POSSIBILITIES THROUGH YOUR LIBRARY. THERE ARE LITTERALLY THOUSANDS OF TRADE MARKS AND ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO IDENTIFY OFF THE TOP OF MY HEAD. GOOD UCK.

PETER
