Subject: 925 and Diamonds.....

Question
Would you happen to know if diamonds where common in the 925 stamped bracelet..........if so it may not be pure silver since magnet sticks slightly........and if old what type diamond would be used in lets say a piece of jewelry from 1700's or 1800's....Thanks

Answer
Greetings,
If a magnet sticks then you don't have precious metal...however if its a flexible piece then you may be attaching the spring which was common in many 1800s pieces.
Without seeing the piece in the flesh it impossible to even guess what the stones may be whether mirror backs, or spinel of white sapphire or in fact white diamond - which were all common in the 1800s
I suggest taking it to a good jeweller or diamond dealer.
Sorry cant help more.
