You need to anneal your wire when it becomes work hardened. There are a few good tutorials on the process. Go to riogrande.com and click on "how to videos." Great resource for all your jewelry questions. You can even live chat with someone at fdj.com. As far as using a kiln to work harden your finished pieces I think that just the process of bending the wire will be enough to do the job or you can use a steel block and a rubber or rawhide mallet on your finished piece to harden it if needed. these mallets won't leave marks on your metal.
