Jewelry Making/Resizing Ring with Baguettes

Dear Sir,
I am hoping to have a 14k white gold band with diamonds, some round and some baguettes, enlarged from 5 1/2 to 8. My jeweler agreed to try but said it can destabilize the baguettes and he may not be able to do it. This jeweler is not a "mall jeweler" and he owns his own small shop. He has made jewelry from scratch for me and I know he is expert. But every time I take him something he at first says he cannot do it or he doesn't think it will work. 99.9% of the time it does. Should I be worried or is this just another time he should be able to do what I ask?
Many thanks,

Almost every competent jeweler I know will advise their client of the rocky road of up or down sizing a diamond band, especially 3 sizes end defiantly one that contains  baguettes. Most good Jewlers will be able to tighten the stons that get loose during the operation for a small fee, and they mostly always do need it. Just be sure to check them thoroughly when you pick up the ring before wearing it. test every stone for a wiggle with a straight pin to be sure They all are all tight.
I hope it goes well for you.
