Question I do have a bachelor degree in Computer Sciences and years of experience working as such. In the last 3 years I had worked as a litigation support analyst in New York City and I would like to get a job working as a Word Processing Operator in a law firm at the 3rd shift to suplement my income while I work in some business during the day. The problem is that the ads that I am seeing from agencies requires experience at a legal firm first. I have to get train as a Word Processor operator but I am sure I can get very good at it on short time. How could I market myself to the agencies if I lack the experience on the position? Can I use my other experiences and training to get a position?
Thank you
Answer Hector,
Learning the skills of a Word Processor is essential in order for you to be considered for that type of position.
Here's an idea to consider...You talk about applying your other experience/training in the Word Processor role, so I would contact one of the agencies & ask them if you could come in & show them the skills you do possess to see if they can be quickly be transitioned to the Word Processor role. You have nothing to lose by attempting this & you'll get some some real expert advice regarding what skills need improvement in order to be considered in the future. In that way you can focus on enhancing those skills & you may reach your goal faster than anticipated.
Hope this advice helps & please let me know if i can further assist. Best of luck to you Hector.
Regards,
Andy
