Job Hunting Tips - Part-time employment from home

Question
Hi, I'm a retired military member with medical issues that prohibit me from working full-time or out of my home.  I have recently completed the Computerized Business Applications Course from The Centre for Distance Education in New Brunswick.  I am hoping you may know of a legitimate, (or ways to spot a legitimate) online employment opportunity(ies).  Any advice or assistance you can supply would be much appreciated.  Thanking you in advance for your time.

Answer
Hi Julie,

I’m sorry to hear about you medical situation. I can tell from your note that you are aware of the “work from home” schemes that prey on those unable to leave their homes on a regular basis. Any opportunity that asks that you pay money upfront is your red flag. People actually do send these companies money which allows them to stay in business.

Have you considered typing medical transcriptions at home? This will involve you taking a course & getting certified. Pay is based on the # of words rather than how long it takes you to finish a transcript. There’s software that counts keystrokes/words in a document. If this doesn’t interest you, consider going to monster.com & in the search field key in “work from home.” I just tried it using Northern New Jersey as the area & found 311 entries. They include selling insurance, a food blogger, recruiting positions etc.

Take a look @ www.vipdesk.com to see if that is of interest.  Also, try www.mymommybiz.com/telecomm.

Julie, there’s a lot of info I’ve provided for you to search. If you come up empty, please let me know & I can further assist you. I hope you are able to find something that meets your immediate needs. I wish you the best of luck. When time permits, I would appreciate it if you would please fill out the allexperts.com questionnaire. Go get them Julie!

Regards,
Andy
