Question
Good afternoon,
I begin working at my current job only 4 months ago.  However, I am not satisfied with this job.  It has too many flaws such working holidays, working very late, expensive health insurance with little coverage and other minor things.  The greatest one is that it is not challenging.  I am thinking of seeking another job, but I am worried that this job will harm my employment opportunities because of my time working here. Please give me any advice you can offer.

Answer
Dear Mayra,

I know you don’t like your job but Myra please don’t leave it prematurely. It is much easier to get a new job when you already have a job as opposed to being unemployed. I’m assuming you didn’t know that you would have to work holidays & late hours otherwise you would not have originally accepted the job.

Based on the reasons you have shared with me as to why you want to leave this position, I don’t believe you will have a difficult time finding another job. All the reasons you mentioned are legitimate & would be easily understandable by another future employer providing you don’t apply for another position that requires weekend & late hour work.

I recommend that you move forward & in your spare time start looking for a position that will make you happier. I know it is not easy to look for a job while you already have a job but you are a much more attractive candidate when you already have a job so it would be wise not to quit until you find another job.

I hope you find this advice helpful & please let me know if I can further assist you. I wish you the best of luck in whatever career decision you choose. When time permits, please complete the allexperts.com questionnaire.

Regards,
Andy
