Job Hunting Tips - Work at home jobs

Expert: Jeannine Metal - 8/9/2003

Question
I have a fulltime job, but I'm having a hard time making ends meet. I would like to make some extra money. Are the work at home jobs I'm finding on the internet real, or are they just scams?

Answer
Judy,

There are jobs out there that are real but you have to be careful. Unfortunately, they aren't easy to find. You have to sort through and read what they are offering carefully. If it seems to good to be true it is. Anything that is asking for a fee is usually a scam. Legitmate work at home employers won't charge you. There are alot of pyramid schemes too.

Here are a few good websites to check out:
www.flipdog.com; www.workathomejobs.com; www.tjobs.com;
www.homeworkers.org.; www.2work-at-home.com. You can also check out monster.com and careerbuilder.com. You would put telecommuting in the search box to find jobs that are working from home. Also, there is a site called elance.com where employers post projects and you can bid on what
you would charge to do the project and can also post your own projects.

Best advice I can give you is to read and research carefully. You can
check out any of the internet jobs that offer work at home on the Better Business Bureau on line to see if they have any complaints about them.

Hope this proves helpful. Good luck.Jeannine
