-----Question-----
what is a cover page and does it matter if i have one? what should i do to make my resume look cleaner and more noticeable? what are some of the things employers look for on a resume?
-----Answer-----
Hi Skyler,

A cover page for your resume serves the purpose of introducing yourself to a potential employer & allows you the opportunity to tell them how interested you are in joining their organization & what position you wish to fill.

Hiring Managers look closely at resumes to review a candidate’s work history, education, training & career achievements. They look to see how long you have worked with a company, the types of companies that employed you & your role in those companies.

To make your resume stand out, rather than just noting your previous job responsibilities, note what you achieved in these positions. For example “I increased sales by 15%” or “I reduced customer service problems by 15% by creating new processes and procedures.”

Your cover letter & resume are extremely important because this is your first (and could be your last) opportunity to impress a Hiring Manager so you can get that personal one on one interview. If you need help in creating a cover letter or in “punching up” your resume, send me a copy & I’m willing to help you.

Skyler, I hope this advice is helpful & I wish you all the best in whatever career decision you choose. When time permits, please complete the allexperts.com questionnaire. Best of luck to you.

Regards,
Andy

Skyler,

You've done quite a few things in different industries but in order for me to create a cover memo & highlight your skills in your resume, I need to know what type of work you want to do now. Are you looking to working outside or getting a position inside or are you unsure?

Andy

right now im totally undecided and working inside would be preferable. desk job 8-5 would be ideal!

Answer
Skyler,

Below I've created a cover letter & a "punched up" resume for you. I wish you the best of luck in your job search & hope this resume lands you the job you want.

This took some time for me to prepare for you, so I will now ask two things of you. Return this act of kindness to someone in your community. With your background, there's plenty of people you can help as well. Secondly, I would appreciate you filling out the allexperts.com questionnaire when time permits. Good luck to you Skyler.

Regards,
Andy
