Question what is a cover page and does it matter if i have one? what should i do to make my resume look cleaner and more noticeable? what are some of the things employers look for on a resume?
Answer Hi Skyler,
A cover page for your resume serves the purpose of introducing yourself to a potential employer & allows you the opportunity to tell them how interested you are in joining their organization & what position you wish to fill.
Hiring Managers look closely at resumes to review a candidate’s work history, education, training & career achievements. They look to see how long you have worked with a company, the types of companies that employed you & your role in those companies.
To make your resume stand out, rather than just noting your previous job responsibilities, note what you achieved in these positions. For example “I increased sales by 15%” or “I reduced customer service problems by 15% by creating new processes and procedures.”
Your cover letter & resume are extremely important because this is your first (and could be your last) opportunity to impress a Hiring Manager so you can get that personal one on one interview. If you need help in creating a cover letter or in “punching up” your resume, send me a copy & I’m willing to help you.
Skyler, I hope this advice is helpful & I wish you all the best in whatever career decision you choose. When time permits, please complete the allexperts.com questionnaire. Best of luck to you.
