Jogging & Running - Pain in lower front shin area

Expert: John DeHart - 11/6/2009

Question
I ran a half marathon last weekend and experienced cramps in lower legs in the 12.5 point.  After the race the front lower shin area was hurting.  It is still bothering me.  I tried to run yesterday and it bothered me most of the time.  But after I stopped it almost felt better for a little while.  It hurts when I walk, but real bad.  What do you think.

Answer
Hi Denise
I don't know what or where 12.5 means or is,so i can't help you on that point, but after the race seems to be Shin splints close to ankle or frontal of femur.Nothing serious, but take some time to let it heal and ice often as you can and add 500mg of Vit C with your 3 meals a day.NO neds.If you want to contact me in person to discuss 505 271 5909 USA

All the best

John
