Expert: Miquel Sala Date: 6/8/2008 Subject: Any way to ake Elton John aware of genetic disease cause research?
Question Hey...
Can you tell me if there is any way to make Elton John aware of a genetic issue which is spreading rapidly and currently has very limited research and awareness...I suffer from quite debilitating and painful effects from a disease, which is really the manifestation of the root genetic cause has taken in my body. I have lost family members to different diseases (manifestations), which again were the result of the same genetic cause it took in their lives. There is very limited research in this area, but because of the various complications, its root cause often gets labeled as the resulting disease it causes in its victims. Many types of arthritis, chrohns disease, cystitis and various other manifestations are caused by a specific genetic issue, with only a few genetic & medical specialists involved in furthering research into the genetic causes. These specific diseases are usually quite complicated by other systemic effects associated with the gene factor. I feel certain that huge advances in the diagnosis & treatment of many inflammatory diseases will be made eventually, but could be advanced by decades if awareness to the genetic causes could be increased. Considering Elton John's past successes in helping bring awareness to other issues. I feel he could help (literally millions) by helping to bring awareness to the genetic research needed...Thanks...
Answer Dear Sir Vertual,
First of all, thank you very much for your question.
I am afraid but I could do little for your cause, I am sorry. I am agree with you that genetic research need help, economically and divulgaty.
The Elton John AIDS Foundation, owned by Elton, in the UK has funded over 1,100 projects worldwide with grants totaling more than £37 million. We are the largest HIV/AIDS grant maker in the UK and one of the 20 largest international AIDS charities.
But their mission is to empower people infected, affected and at risk of HIV/AIDS; to alleviate their physical, emotional and financial hardship, enabling them to improve their quality of life, live with dignity and exercise self-determination.
All I could do is, I could send them your mail and wait what they do.
Anyway, thanks to let me know your experience. Thanks!!
