John, Elton/North Charleston setlist

Question
Hello Austin!

I was a 'fan' as a kid, but only knowing songs like Crocodile Rock and Philadelphia Freedom. Over the years, I didn't pay him much more attention. Of course I heard and enjoyed songs like Daniel, Levon, Tiny Dancer, etcccccc...but that was about the extent of it.

My 'world' opened up and I finally heard and fell in love with Elton, so to speak, when my fiance put in an old tape which was a well-preserved personal recording from a compilation of LPs, including a master recording. I think a lot of it came from Tumbleweed Connection, including my discovery of Come Down In Time, Where to Now St. Peter, etc. I became instantly addicted and could not get enough Elton! I know there are a lot of other amazing songs that I haven't yet discovered (part of the fun!), but another I found great I discovered online-I Want Love.

Anyway, I would love to hear of any other suggested albums (CDs)/songs that I just can't miss out on and if you have the setlist to the recent 11/9/07 show in N. Charleston, SC, I would be ever-grateful!!!! It was my FIRST show and my fiance and I were BLOWN AWAY by the show. Hmmmm...I may have to find a way to get out to Missoula, MT for the April show...

Highest regards to a fellow Elton fan,

Maria

Answer
Hi Maria,

Tumbleweed Connection is such a great album, I agree. St. Peter is one of my favorite songs.  If you like that album, I'd suggest looking at Madman Across the Water and Honky Chateau.  Actually, you can't go wrong with any of the albums from Empty Sky--Blue Moves.  Blue Moves is a personal favorite; it has a different feel from Captain Fantastic and Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, the two albums before it.  The newest album, The Captain and the Kid, is terrific.  You have to hear "And the House Fell Down" and the title track.  If you like "I Want Love" you'll probably enjoy the album Songs from the West Coast as well as Peachtree Road.  I could go on and on!

I was at the Orlando show on November 10 and am sure our setlists were the same.  I'll paste the set list below.

I hope these suggestions are helpful.  Thanks for the question.

I am a huge fan of Elton John`s, and take it upon myself to learn as much about him as I can. I know a lot of obscure facts as well as many people associated with Elton over the years. I love to share my knowledge with other Elton fans or just the curious. I`m a dedicated fan...I`ve gotten myself three autographs at concerts, one from as far back as 32 rows! If I don`t know your question, I`ll try to find it!
