Question WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN JUDO AND KARATE
and what is the diifference between judo and martial art
Answer A Martial Art can be defined as a system of techniques and exercises developed as an effective means for self-defense and fighting, both unarmed and with the use of weapons. Usually the term refers to Asian arts focused on hand-to-hand combat developed before guns were used.
Judo is Japanese and was derived from jujutsu. Judo is practiced on mats and consists primarily of throws, along with ground grappling, which includes pins, chokes, and armlocks. Additional techniques, including striking and various joint locks. Judo is generally compared to wrestling but it retains its unique combat forms. Judo is also an Olympic sport that has a strong competitive element.
Karate is a general term referring to many different styles of unarmed combat coming from several different countries. Karate primarily relies on striking with hands, feet, knees, and elbows. Some styles of karate are practiced competitively.
So the biggest difference is that judo emphasizes grappling, while karate emphasizes striking. Both are martial arts. For more information about judo please see http://JudoInfo.com
