About Nichola Gale
Expertise
I will have a good go at answering any questions about English children's books - whether classical or popular literature, and for all age groups. I would have to leave American children's books to my far more qualified US counterparts!

Experience
For four years I worked in the children's department of a well-known chain of English bookshops. I set up my own pre-school reading group which I ran for three years. I trained volunteers to go into schools to help with reluctant readers, often recommending books for them to use with the children they were assisting. I worked on the mobile library for a year and then promoted a picture book campaign for the children's library. I currently work as a Teaching Assistant in an infant school where my speciality is literacy. I also write a book review column for a teaching magazine.

Question
I am 30 years old and I know the book has to be from the 60's. It was about a boy that travels around the world learning about different types of homes. Houses on stilts, in trees, etc. It was illustrated and I don't have the slightest idea of what the title could be.

Answer
Could it possibly be "A House is a House for Me" by Mary Ann Hoberman?  It was published in 1978 so may be a bit later than you remember but it is an illustrated book about a little boy who is amazed at the different types of houses in the world.  He explores animal houses and human houses.

Hope this helps.

Nicky
