Question
what is the people's favourite food in kenya

Answer
Hi Gemz,
I'm really sorry about the delay.
Favourite foods vary among Kenyans depending on age and tribe (ethnicity). For example, among the Kikuyu, a favourite food among the older generation, those who grew up in traditional culture, would be mukimo or githeri. The latter is a mix of maize and beans while the former is mashed potatoes, kales, beans and maize. While other people from different tribes may eat these meals, they will not necessarily enjoy them. However, the Kikuyu would eat them, given a chance, as a staple diet.
The Kamba on the other hand, also enjoy a meal called matoke, which is mashed bananas. This is however, with the older generation Kamba. The Luo enjoy ugali, which is boiled maize meal. Those from the coast enjoy biriani, which is spiced chicken.
Younger folk do not have such cultural loyalties, but due to Western influences, most have discarded their ethnic meals for the fast foods of America and Europe. A favourite for many would be fried fish, chicken, french fries, hamburgers, etc.
While traditionally meat was eaten, it was almost always roasted, not fried.
Vegetables span all cultures and are revered today, as the health kick sweeps across the nation. Besides, vegies are pretty cheap these sides.
Let me know if you need any more information or if my information was not enough, I'll be happy to give you more!
