Question Hello, I have a problem with my mouse that seemed to occur out of the blue. It seems to work fine for about 3 minute intervals but inbetween, stalls and skips to random places on the screen. The problem first occured with a microsoft intellimouse (PS/2), because it was old I bought a new mouse hoping the problem would be solved. I now have a mouse that works in either (PS/2) or USB. I installed the mouse on USB but the SAME problems occured. I have scanned my computer for viruses but nothing has been found, although i cant rule one out. The human interface driver for the new mouse is working fine. Any help would be great?
Answer The next thing to check is your display and video drivers. If your system is a couple years old or more, check with either Microsoft or the display manufacturer Web site for an updated display driver. If there is one, follow instructions and install the new driver.
You might also try Microsoft's Knowledge Base and refer to the intellimouse in a search for "erratic mouse pointer" or something similar.
Either a new display driver (video driver) or a solution at the Microsoft site should solve your problem. It may take a little patience to find the exact solution. Here is the Knowledge Base URL: http://support.microsoft.com/search/?adv=0
Good luck ... I hope this helps. And let me know if you need further assistance.
