Question
Hi. I've recently started kickboxing training, but I'm an older beginner (36).
I'm physically fit, being a decent runner, and do quite a bit of free-weights.
My issue(s) are that it's difficult to work on my coordination as level-wise I'm
with the kids and weight and strength-wise I'm with the guys who kick my
ass! Do you have any suggestions to get my coordination improved and
maybe my explosive power (I'm a long-distance runner and tend to lose
power on short sharp busts).

Thanks.

Answer
Kev,
I thought I had answered this question before. Sorry for the delay.
The answer to your coordination problem is shadow boxing. Do as much of it as you can to really improve your form. But you have to make sure that you're getting in quality not quantity repetitions.
As for explosive power, start incorporating sprints into your running workout and you should see an improvement.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Dwight Woods
