Question
QUESTION: hello sir,
i am 21year old male.. doing martials arts since 3years..
have been trained in karate and taekwondo and now am going to learn kick boxing..
i want to ask if martial artists do heavy lifting isolation workouts then does it creates problem while fighting or kicking?or just tell me how kick boxers workout with weights and with what intensity.. they do isolation workouts or compound movements like push press.squats.power clean etc.
and what should be my ideal weight for kick boxing competitions or mma?my height is 5.5ft.
thank you

ANSWER: Hey Rishabh,
Thank you for your question.  When u weight train for martial arts you wanna do 15-20 reps with a weight u can do at a moderate pace. You do not wanna do any slow motion cause that can build muscles and slow your speed down.
When training properly and proper diet  whatever ur weight naturally falls at should be the weight u should fight at,

Thank you for your question.  Let me know if u have any other questions.

QUESTION: thanks sir,
so i should be doing light weight amd high reps.. so what should i do on liftimg days.. isolation workputs or compound movements like power jerk n push press.. or can u give me a schedule?my current weight is 62kg.. should i cut more weight?coz my body is muscular and a bit fats in quads but still my kick speed is good but i have less stamina.. so i should do jogging for long distances or sprinting at full speed to increase stamina?

Answer
Hey Rishabh,
When u run u wanna sprint as fast as you can for 30-45 min.  When you do weights u wanna do moderate pace of compound movements so u get more cardio along with strength training.   Your weight will naturally become what weight it should be with the high intensity training. So don't worry about your weight right now. Just work on speed and power drills

Thank you for your question
