Question Hi, my name is Jason and I have gotten into martial arts since the latest Chuck Liddell fight. I was wondering what type of fighting arts do many kickboxers use? I was also wondering what is the best way to take a hit into the nose? I also wanted to ask youwhat are the best grapples to use if you are a "hitter" and not a "kicker"?Thank you very much!!
Answer Jason,
Most of the kickboxers nowadays are using a Muay Thai-type kickboxing style. Not pure Muay Thai but definitely influenced by that art.
The best way to take "a hit in the nose" is to MOVE YOUR HEAD! Don't take a shot if you can avoid it. If you do get hit and your nose starts bleeding the ref's going to stop the fight.
By "hitter" I'm assuming you mean "striker" or "puncher". So if you're good or better with your hands, try slipping to the outside and see if you can get rear control for a takedown that way.
Or keep using your punches to occupy your opponent's high line and then shoot low for the single or double legged takedown.
Hope this helps. Best of luck to you.
