Question
Hi. I know you're really busy and there's much more important questions...
but you definitely seem very intelligent and know what you're talking about.
I am 5'2", 135 pounds. I have a petite frame but I definitely need to slim down
and I am interested in kickboxing for many other reasons as well!

I live in a very small, very rural town and there are no classes or groups here
that teach kickboxing.
Can you tell me (as a beginner) what I should start out with?
Would it be better to workout with a partner or by myself? Should I buy a
punching bag or pole or anything?
Thank you for your time, it is much appreciated.

Answer
Kay,
I like the way your mind works because I can tell you've put some thought into this.
Yes, you should invest in some training equipment. If you want to workout with a partner then get a pair of focus mitts, a pair of bag gloves and a kick shield.
If you're going to go the solo route then just get a heavy bags or Wavemaster.
ExpertVillage.com recently posted some Jeet Kune Do video training that might help you.
In early 2008, I'll be releasing a brand new series of "One-on-One" kickboxing DVDs designed for people like you who want to/have to train at home.
Talk to the guys at RevGear.com about the training equipment. Tell them Dwight Woods sent you.
Send me an e-mail at umaaoffice@aol.com if you want to learn about the DVDs when they're released.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Dwight Woods
P.S. Thanks for the kind words.
