Question I need help with starting kickboxing. I'm an athlete already, I run, swim, play soccer, and basketball, but I wanted something new. I've heard about kickboxing and I thought I'd try it. I was looking at heavy bags the other day, and I didnt know how heavy to get it. I am 17, 5'7", and 135 pounds. I love a workout, but I dont want to hurt myself. There is a place near where I live that teaches kickboxing, but I wanted to try it first on my own. Could you help me?
Answer Sammi,
A 70lb bag might be good for starting out but eventually you'll want to get a "banana bag" because when you start getting good at kicking, 70lbs will be too light for you.
Then you'll need something heavier in the 100 - 200lb range, okay?
Hope this helps.
