Question
Hello my daughter cough hard at night when she gets in here bed but in the living room she barely coughs but as soon as we put her in the bed rough coughing all night what could be wrong or what could it be thank you.

Answer
Hi Antoine,

It sounds like your daughter may be suffering from asthma and/or allergies. A chronic cough at night time is often the first warning symptom of asthma.

I recommend she see a doctor for proper diagnosis. There are lots of available treatments for childhood asthma if this is in fact the cause of her coughing spells. It could just be that she has some allergies going on that are causing postnasal drip and cough when she lays down.

I wish her the best! Please let me know what the Dr. says!

Best,
Dr. Tara
