Topic: Kids` Health

Subject: 3yr old underarm odor

Question
My 3yr old daughter has a bad underarm odor and I am not sure why. She has two older sisters that did not have this problem until ages 8-9 yrs old, and I am not sure why the odor is coming so soon with my baby. Could this be a early sign of puberty? She does have hair all over her body but nothing out of the normal for her age. My daughter has also smelled bad in other areas which resulted in an on the spot bath.  I tried putting powder under her arms but it do not seem to help. Is deodorant to strong for such a young girl? Your help in this matter would be much appreciative.

Answer
Dee,

Sorry to not get to your question earlier. I have been traveling.

Frankly, I don't know the answer to your question. I do know that kids are beginning puberty earlier and that this is a hot topic of study. However, 3 years old is extremely early and is not at all likely.

You should talk to your pediatrician about your concerns.
