Question
I have a 10 yr old daughter who vomits without warning normally in her sleep at least twice a month , it smells really bad when she dose, not like normal vomit smell it almost smells rancid and sometimes chemically, shes becoming so scared of going to sleep at night, this has been happening for at least a year now and its starting to worry us.what could this be?I have two other kids that dont suffer from this.

Answer
Hi Tanya,

Sorry to hear of your daughter's troubles. She could have reflux which is worse at night when lying down but only a Dr. can determine what is causing her vomiting.

Recurrent vomiting is not normal and definitely requires a proper evaluation by a medical doctor.

I wish her the best. Take care.

Best,
Dr. Tara Kompare, Pharm.D.
