Kitchen Design/Remodeling/Supports for a quartz island overhang

In a previous answer, I think you stated that if a countertop overhang was 12 inches or less, no corbels or supports were needed.  We are putting in a quartz countertop, it is 62 inches long, with a 12 inch overhang.  Do I need supports?  I am a little confused.

Quartz countertops are extremely strong and a 12" overhang is not a problem at all.
The general rule is the have 2/3 countertop fastened to cabinets, with no more than 1/3 overhanging to a maximum of 12". This is for granite. Quartz can handle 14" of overhang unsupported.

Hope that helps.
