Knitting - Block a Scarf?

Expert: Frances Rhea - 10/6/2009

Question
Hi! I just finished my first gull lace scarf and my decreases are a bit tight.  I'm wondering if I need to block the scarf to really show the beauty of the lace?  I've never blocked anything before, so I need help in figuring out what to do.  The scarf was made from 50% wool and 50% soy.  Thanks for your help!  If it would help, I could take a digital photo of it.

Answer
Yes, blocking properly can help. Use a steam iron with a towel over the scarf, or a damp towel with a regular iron.

For crochet the description is the same.
