Question QUESTION: I have promised to make some checkerboard house slippers they are worked with 2 colors, I have looked on the net, the problem Im having is you cast on 66 stitches then all the stitches are knitted the first row I pick up color 1 knit 6 then drop knit 6 with color 2 the problem im having is when I go to row 2 the treads are showing the treads are supposed to create a soft padding great for slippers but those treads arent supposed to show on both side, what am i doing wrong. needless to say im not the greatest knitter
ANSWER: Are these worked in garter stitch or stockinette stitch?
When you work the wrong side, if purling ,just keep all strands on the purl side. I suspect you are working garter stitch and knitting on the wrong side as well? You will need to move your yarn to the back to knit the 6 stitches and then*bring it forward again, pick up the new color from underneath and move the new color to the back in order to knit the next 6 stitches. Then repeat from * across row.

QUESTION: this is so great you are helping me, but, i'm sorry, i'm just not getting it yes, it is supposed to be all knitted but when i start to knit the second row and i pull the thread to knit 6, then drop that thread and knit 6 with the other color those pulled threads show up on the wrong side
Answer If you work using the stranded technique , then the strands will show on the wrong side only. From your description I think that's what the pattern is having you do.
When knitting the wrong side, after you"drop that thread" you need to bring it between the two needles to the front of your work (the side facing you). pick up the other color from beneath and move it to the other side before you knit the next 6.
In other words, when you're working the wrong side, you'll be moving your yarn to the other side to knit 6, then return them to the wrong side again, picking up new color, take it to the right side knit, then return it to the wrong side again.
If you're wanting the strands not to show on either right or wrong side, then you could knit using the Intarsia method , which is too lengthy to describe in words here.
