SMOCKED PATTERN:multiple of 6: row 1, (rs) p2,*bring yarn to WS, sl 4 sts to RH needle, bring yarn to RS, sl same 4 sts back to LH needle, bring yarn to back wrapping around the 4sts, rep from * once more, sl 4 sts back to RH needle, p2.  row 2 and all WS rows, K2,*p1,TBL,k2, rep from *across. row 3: p2,k1TBL,p2 rep from*across. row 5 p2,k1TBL, p2, rep from*of row 1 to last 5 sts, end p2,k1TBL, p2.  row 7: rep row 3. row 8: rep row 2.

I have tried everything and nothing works.  I would be so grateful if you can be of any help.  Thank you.  This whole pattern has to be reversed so that I can do the right panel.

Answer
Hi Carol,

I don't understand from your question, if you have managed to knit the smocking at all.

The easiest way to knit smocking is by using a cable needle to hold slipped stitches to back of work.

I question having to reverse such a complicated pattern, and wonder if it's only the shapings that need to be reversed?

Anyway, please feel free to contact me if this doesn't help.

Best wishes,

Cathy.
