Question I am knitting a cardigan and the pattern says to revers all shaping , Here are the instructions for the left front: Row 3, P2, *K1, p2, rep from * across. How would I do this in reverse.
Thank youvghbg
Answer Hi Carol,
When a pattern says to reverse all shaping, it means any increases or decreases. The stitch pattern should remain basically the same. It is a bit hard to work out what the correct sequence of stitches is from just one row, but I am assuming that the stitch pattern is a 1 x 2 rib pattern that has already been established in the piece you are knitting.
So as this particular row doesn't have any 'shaping' as such, you would just continue in the pattern as it is. On the left front you started the row with p2 and finished with p2, so in all probability the row on the right front will be exactly the same.
You only need to worry about reversing the shaping when you have an increase. For example if your pattern said:
Row 3: P2tog, *K1, p2, rep from * across
The reverse would be:
Row 3: P2, *K1, p2, rep from * to last 3 sts, k1, p2tog.
