Knitting/V-Neck Sweater

Question
I'm knitting my first sweater with this pattern http://www.berroco.com/exclusives/ben/ben.html and I think I've run into a problem. I made the back panel and it went just fine. I've done the front panel, and I've followed the pattern, but I'm not at all sure what to do about the v-neck. When I did the decreases, it made the panel solid, just like the back panel. Were the stitches suppose to be put on the stitch marker also? Do I pick up the stitches at the decrease seam and the v-neck magically happens? I'm lost and I don't want to leave a project unfinished, especially when it's for someone else. Thank You!

Answer
It looks like a few stitches at the center front, right below the v neck are either put unto a holder or bound off.Not clear to me what you mean by"when I did the decs. it made the panel solid"
Sorry, not clear to me what the specific question is.
Can you quote directly from the pattern the part you are asking about?
Do you mean the sloping edge of v neck? Is that what you're calling
the "decrease seam"? Yes stitches are picked up for the ribbing band later. sorry, need more direct questions to help you.
