About Samantha Hilver
Expertise I can answer any questions related to hand knitting. I'm very familiar with all sorts of stitches and techniques and can help troubleshoot or get you through sticky spots when it comes to figuring out a pattern or figuring out how to write your own.
Experience I've been knitting since the seventh grade and although I'm perfectly capable of following a pattern I prefer to free-style most of my work.
Education/Credentials I've taught myself how to knit from countless library and second-hand books and help from friends and relatives, but I've never taken a knitting class.

Knitting - vintage shawl instructons

Question i am knitting an old vintage shawl for my baby, and have knitting instruction as follows.........
(WRN.WON.S1.K2TOG. PSSO) twice
how do I do a yarn over needle, and a yarn round needle following each other????
This is on a knit row.
On the following row it says purl being careful to WRN loop through back of loop.
I am now stuck with these 2 rows sadly!!
I would appreciate any help with this,
Nikki
Answer Hi Nikki,
Sounds to me like they're being a tad redundant. I sometimes get patterns where I find they repeat instructions in a typo or a different style of writing/reading abbreviations. I'd figure they're just saying to wrap the wool around the needle i.e. all the way around. As for the purl, I'm guessing they want you to wrap the yarn around the needle starting at the bottom.
Hope that helps!
Sam :)
