Knitting - Australian Equivelent to American Yarn

Expert: Deborah Mason - 5/28/2009

Question
Do you know a yarn I can substitute for Plymouth Encore? It uses American size 7 needles.

Answer
American size 7 needles are 4.50mm so I am guessing that Plymouth Encore is an 8 ply.  I found the yarn on a store on the web and they describe it as a worsted weight yarn and recommend US size 8 needles so it is more likely that it is closer to a 10 ply, so Patons Jet might do the trick.
