Knitting - Cast on to right needle

Expert: Frances Rhea - 5/25/2009

Question
I'm making a sweater. I've come to the part for separating the sleeves. Instructions tell me to knit a certain number of stitches, slip a certain number for the first sleeve, and then "cast on 7 stitches on the right hand needle." How do I do that cast on? Is there an on line reference you can send me to?

Try one of the first two methods. After you slip the stitches, transfer the right hand needle to your left hand and use the instructions except use the last stitch slipped on as the slip knot they refer to in the directions.
