Knitting - knifty Knitter - holes/spaces

Question
I just got the knifty knitter and really like it.  I made a toque on the little red one, and am working on my second project on the green loom.  However...the holes or spaces (not too sure exactly the correct term) seem rather large and I don't really like it.  I can stick my fingers through them no problem.  I want it too look like they do in the pictures on the books/instructions!!  Particularly for a blanket, I don't want it so you get your fingers stuck, and I am worried that my little daughters will get their fingers in and pull it apart.  I like the look of a tight stitch.  I am using two strands of what was recommended a medium weight yarn.  Should I just use more strands of yarn, or how can I make the stitches tighter?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I want to knit a purse, which I got a pattern for in the book I got with my loom, but if the stitches/holes are this big, I'd be concerned of things poking out through from within my purse, ie. a pen or or lip-stick, etc.  Please help!!  Thanks for your time, I hope this can be solved.

Answer
I'm not really an expert on looms, but my guess would dbe to use additional strands of yarn. Rather than the specified type, I would add a fuzzy specialty yarn to help cover holes.

Here is a link with lots of tips on working with the knifty knitter loom:
