Knitting - Reading a pattern

Expert: Deborah Mason - 7/25/2009

Question
I am teaching myself to knit. I have already cast on 26 and knitted the first 6 rows, now they are changing the pattern.
My pattern says Row 1: K1,P3,K3,P3,3/3 Left cable,P3,K3,P3,K1.  I don't know what the 3/3 means. Can you help?

Thank you. Pam

Answer
I can only assume that "3/3 Left Cable" is a cable pattern in the centre of your knitting.  Without being able to read the pattern myself, I can't tell you how to do it.  If you have a look at the beginning of your pattern, it should have a definitions section where they explain all of the abbreviations they have used.

3/3 Left Cable should be defined in that section.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help...
