I am knitting the Lovely Lacy Cable Cardigan and the pattern just doesn't work correctly. After I finish the first row of the pattern I end up MINUS 8 stitches.
Here is the basic pattern: Starting with 107 stitches
1st row: (RS). K1. *K6. yfwd. Sl1. K1. psso. K1. K2tog. yfwd. Rep from * to last 7 sts. K7.
2nd and alt rows: Purl.
3rd row: K1. *K7. yfwd. Sl1. K2tog. psso. yfwd. K1. Rep from * to last 7 sts. K7.
5th row: As 1st row.
7th row: As 3rd row.
9th row: As 1st row.
11th row: K1. *C6F. K1. yfwd. Sl1. K2tog. psso. yfwd. K1. Rep from * to last 7 sts. C6F. K1.
12th row: As 2nd row. These 12 rows form pat.

After you do the first row you should still have 107 stitches. If you subtract the first K1 stitch and the last 7 knit stitches from 107 you would have 99 stitches in pattern. From * to * involves 9 stitches so * to * would be repeated 11 times.
Walking through * to * : knit 6 stitches,
yarn over (increase of 1 stitch),
slip 1 stitch, knit 1 stitch, pass slip stitch over knit stitch (decrease of 1 stitch),
knit 2 together (decrease of 1 stitch), yarn over (increase of 1 stitch)
