Ok,here goes- Theres this guy who I've known for about 2 yrs. We werent best friends or anything, we just had french class together so we knew each other and we used to flirt with each other as a joke, though it meant nothing to both of us.
Then we started talking online this summer,the usual flirting thing that we do... and sometimes i got the feeling that maybe he was being serious, but i didnt wanna make a fool of myself by asking so i just went along with it, n then he started texting me too and flirting with me.
Anyway one night he texted me when he was drunk n asked me to go out with him for real, n he said that he hadnt ever been more serious but at that time i wasnt sure if i liked him or not so i think i screwed the whole thing up by asking him when he started liking me and wondering if it would be awkward if we went out n he said we'd never know unless we did, n i didnt really answer his question, even though he reminded me again the next morning.
After that day he stopped texting me n when he saw me online we just had really impersonal conversations, but thats when i realised how much i actually like him but was too scared to bring it up again!!
When classes started again, on the first day he asked my friends (who doesnt know any of this) if he could come for lunch with us,(which he had never done before) n he kept flirting with me again over lunch and at one point he brushed my hair behind my ear even!n then he offered to drop me home, but outside my house we met my brother who cracked this joke about him that i didnt think meant anything but apparently offended him n made him think i was bitchin about him to ppl. N after that he either ignored me or was really mean to me, till i texted him n apologised, he said he forgave me, but we hardly talk now, n he never sits with us for lunch, he just plays basketball the whole lunch hour or goes out for a smoke. Once he came n sat really close to me during lunch when i was with only one other friend n said he wants to get cozy, so den we spoke for a while, where all he did was ask me how this other girl in my class was (a girl who i knew he liked a long long time ago) n den after talkin to me for like 5 minutes he suddenly got up n went to play basketball again.
We've hardly spoken after that, he either ignores me or just says hi, (though once he tried to carry me i think!!!) and we had one really pointless conversation online about how his band needs a guitarist. But most days we just dont talk, n i texted him once but he didnt reply and its driving me crazy cos i cant stop thinking about him, but i don't think he likes me anymore...so could you please tell me what you think!!! o and he suffers from bipolar disorder, if that could have anything to do with anything....thank you!!!

Thank you for allowing me to answer your question. Based on what I read, I would say that he appeared to have liked you at some point. It is a possibility that his feelings have changed due to his current actions, or he could just feel you're not interested and he's trying to move on. If you truly do like him now I say you should tell him and see what he says. If you're uncomfortable to tell him face to face, then maybe you can text him..although face to face is always better. good luck and do a follow-up if need.
