Mr. Seong-Bae Park,
Greetings!
My name is Celine Celestial, I am a 4th year Production Design student in De La Salle- College of Saint Benilde. I am currently working on my thesis about producing an Indian Sanskrit drama into a Korean Mask Drama design template in the 15th century. I am very much interested in Korea 's art and culture that's why I decided to use the design template or the look of Korea 's Mask dramas.
I would like to know if you have already watched a mask drama in your country, what is like? do they start a performance with a dance? i would also like to know if koreans today still know/interested in their Mask Dramas? My thesis defense is scheduled on April 14, 2007(Saturday).
Thank you for your time and for your kind consideration.
I am looking forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Celine Celestial
Answer Hi,
Interested in Korean Mask Dramas? I think that it is hardly performed in common people nowadays. As you know that many people want to see a movie or soap opera in TV rather than it. The mask drama is shown often to public on a special day sometimes. I am very sad that this traditional culture is fading slowly from our sight. Now, the Korean government has tried to keep our unique stuffs like mask drama, Chang(Korean
tractional song) etc on. Anyway, in Koreans, this kind of cultural thing is being forgotten at this time.
