Expert: Sifu Richard Mieir-King - 6/4/2003

Question
Do you know of anywhere (on the web) that i could get information on the chain whip or similar flexible weapon? what i am looking for is: forms, general use, techniques, etc...basically anything that would help me to learn how to use the chain whip effectively.  Also, are there any books or web sites that you know of that teach kung-fu forms and hand techniques of any style. Thanks a lot for your time.

Answer
Hi Matt,

Thanks for choosing me and allexperts.com for your question.

Outside of simply doing a search on the word “Chain Whip” I can't tell you of anyplace particular on the web that has info on the Chain Whip.  Not having really looked to source out info for the chain whip I can't refer you to any resources (or for other flexible weapons).  Of course, your best bet is to find a teacher that can teach you in person, how to use this or any weapon.  Having said that I am assuming that you do not have any local resources for learning this weapon.  I am developing a program of video tapes which teach, in detail, Kung-Fu forms, breaks the forms down into small digestible segments, shows the moves clearly and also shows applications for each and every move of the form (and I am working on a Chain Whip video).  I have a few tapes in place and I am currently working on quite a few others.  I have some Sifu's learning from these tapes and they think they are wonderful and I have also trained a few intermediate people via video and they are doing great.  Rather than use up a lot of time and space here, if you are interested please contact me at my e-mail, rmieir@sprynet.com , so that we can discuss this program and several other methods I have of training a person via a long distance program.  Also feel free to visit my websites at www.kingskungfu.com and www.greatmartialartsstuff.com.   I look forward to hearing from you!

Sincerely,

Sifu Richard Mieir-King
