Question
My urine tests came back with negative culture, but Leukocytes and protein. They are making me take another test. What might this mean?

Answer
Hi Jenny.  When the urine culture was negative, but your urinalysis shows leukocytes and protein, the sample could have been slightly contaminated. Did you collect a clean-catch sample?  i.e. Did you clean off your genital area (front to back) and then give a "midstream" sample?  Your doctor's doing the right thing in repeating the test.  If there's still protein and leukocytes, he/she will do further testing.  Sometimes these are positive and as long as you're not having symptoms, I wouldn't worry.

Samantha
