Question Hi Samantha,
I have read all the posted responses and I just got more confused. I was given two tests a URINALYSIS, AUTOMATED (WITH MICROSCOPY IF INDICATED, NO CULTURE) and aURINALYSIS, MICROSCOPIC (CULTURE IF INDICATED. What is the word CULTURE indicating for these tests.
Can you help me interpret my Lab results?

Answer Hi Danalyn. I'll be glad to try and answer your question. I know all these terms are confusing! From the urinalysis results you gave me, I can see that you have white blood cells (WBC), blood or hemoglobin (HGB), and bacteria in your urine. But these are in very small amounts (trace). So I wouldn't be too worried, unless you have any symptoms of a urinary tract infection, which would be what these positive results could indicate. If you have no symptoms, I woudln't be concerned. When the report said CULTURE, that meant a bacterial culture, where the lab would determine what bacteria is causing the infection. Usually they'll only do a culture if the urinalysis indicates a possible infection, and they may or may not have done one on your urine, depending on the lab's criteria. You may want to check with your doctor if you're having symptoms.
