AboutSamantha, MLT (ASCP) Expertise I can answer most general questions about all aspects of laboratory testing. But I'm not a doctor! I can just give general answers.
Experience I have been the chemistry supervisor at the hopsital where I work for 11 years. I am an MLT (ASCP)which means I am board certified.
Education/Credentials Associate's Degree, Medical Lab Technician, 1997.
Question I am 53, retired, and would like to find an answer to a question I've been unable to obtain via Google or Yahoo. A cardiologist recently told me that I will never have any cardiovascular disease because my HDL is so high.
1) what % of people have an HDL level of 80 – 89 mg/dL?
2) what % of people have an HDL level of 90 or above?
The first time I asked this question the answer was “Sorry, but I don’t answer homework questions . . .” .
I am a 53 year old man who went to this website because it supposedly answers legitimate questions.
Please answer my question.
Thank you.
Answer William,
I sent you that response because I don't think I can accurately answer your question. I assume you mean the % of American people. I can only give you a general answer, based on the hospital/area where I work. Generally I would estimate that I see about 10% of people have an HDL level of 80-89. An HDL of greater than 90 is fairly uncommon, about 5%? Like I said, these are only estimates based on where I work. Maybe this website will help you:
