Question
Hi Ericka,  Thanks or answering my question re:difference if any in 2 tests.  Someone recommended
this test after I had mny side effects from lipitor.  What does the test show about muscle pain, cramping etc. from this med.?  Thank you.

Answer
Hi Peggy,

This enzyme is found at high levels in patients with muscle damage.  There are 3 types of CPK; brain, muscle and heart.  Usually in our STAT lab we are more interested in the heart part of CPK, which if elevated can indicate a heart attack.
I don't know how lipitor affects muscles, or how it affects CPK levels.  There may be a lipitor website that would have some detailed answers on that.  They usually tell you every little thing that the medication can cause.

Hope this helps.
