Question My spouce got the results fron her yearly pap smear and she was told that a follow up test was needed due to the detection of "A typical cells"
Were are waiting for the nurce to call back with the scheduled test date but untill then we'ed like to know what this may mean. She is pretty upset so the more we know about this the better we can deal with it. The not knowing is what is scaring her. We are or she is age 52 and has had no surgerys but thoroid and gallblader removal.
Answer Stephen,
When atypical cells are found on a Pap smear it means that not all the cells looked at were normal. It doesn't necessarily mean that that cancer is present. Instead of going into detail about this myself, I found a couple of sites that talk about it. If you have more questions after looking at the sites, feel free to contact me about this or any other concerns you might have at: dihydrogen_monoxide_79@yahoo.com.
