Subject: goalie coaches at reasonable $??

Question
Hi - Im a junior in college am a goalie for my womens team in ohio- i've been playing in goal for a couple years now but have never had the opportunity for more formal training - now things are getting really serious at school and I've hit a point where no matter what I try I can't raise my save percentage. I run, strength train do stickwork, follow my coaches workout plan etc. but I think I need positioning help and maybe some reflex improvement drills. soo after all of that here are my two questions: can you recommend any good reflex drills? and also do you know of any good goalie coaches? - I'm from the Maryland area but they don't have to be from Maryland -I'll travel if I need to
Thanx
Natalie

Answer
Natalie thanks for writing.  Where do you play?

If you can email me at jonathan@lacrossegoaltending.com I can send you some contact info of someone out there you should get in touch with.

As far as reflex drills goes I wouldn't bother.  It's very hard to train reflexes at your age.  This might sound odd but you'd be better off focusing on fundamentals and as you said positioning.  I'm not sure if you've read my blog yet but there are over sixty various articles over there.  Also, if you email me I can send you a couple rough chapters from my upcoming ebook.

My email is at my blog www.lacrossegoaltending.blogspot.com

Talk to you soon.

Jonathan -
