AboutJoe Expertise I do not know much about the rules or the technical sides of the game, but I can give information on all equipment, handles, heads, helmets, and some stringing styles.
Experience Due to the lack of teams in my area during my school years, I have never played. I have worked for a major retailer for 7 years. I manage the operations now, but I have done everything from sales to stringing (limited to mesh).
I was given a CLH2 helmet and I want to take it apart so i can give it a custom paint job i got everything off of it except for the elastic strap that says cascade it runs from one side of the helmet through the foam insert into that red peice and then back through the foam to the helmet. I would feel comfortable painting with the red piece in there just not the foam. Sorry if that got confusing.
Thanks for your time,
Jake
Answer Jake,
That elastic strap can be cut out around the rivet that is in there. You will need a large screw with a "T" connector to get it back together. You can find those pieces in a Cascade Helmet Repair Kit. You can put it back together without that piece, it just makes the fit a little bit more secure. I am not sure if you have ever painted a helmet before, but it usually does not work well. The paint can chip and peel very easily. The manufacturer dyes the paint right into the mold when they make the helmet pieces. That is why they do not have problems with it. I wish you luck, and let me know if you have any other questions.
