Question OK so i have recently bought a STX Eclipse and i bought it unstrung because i had some questions about the different kinds of mesh. First of all i see most goalies with larger diamonds rather than small diamonds. I was wondering if they use 12d or 14d, and i was also wondering what the differences between them are. Anything will be helpful.

Answer Scott,
Different goalies use different types of mesh, it is all preference. I will lay out the differences between the 12 diamond and 14 diamond meshes.
12 diamond mesh is the goalie equivalent of 6 diamond attack mesh. 12 Diamond offers the perfect balance between hold and passing ability. Its pocket is only moderately difficult to break in, and it will hold its pocket well through wet and cold weather. 12 Diamond is well suited for players of all ability levels.
14 diamond mesh is the goalie equivalent of 7 diamond attack mesh. 14 Diamond offers the smallest diamonds of any diamond goalie mesh. 14 Diamond is a harder mesh to break in, but it will hold its pocket extremely well in wet and cold weather. On account of its small diamond size, 14 Diamond does not offer exceptional hold, but it does offer excellent passing ability. 14 Diamond mesh is a great mesh for players of advanced skill level.
