Lacrosse - head pinch rules

Expert: Zander Berlinski - 6/25/2009

Question
Hi ZB,

I understand the NCAA is going to restrict the pinch on lacrosse heads so legal ones today will not be legal in 2010.  Can you tell me if this ruling will trickle down to the high school level?  Don't Catholic Prep schools follow NCAA rules?

Thanks,

Larry

Answer
     Larry,
Sorry for such a long delay, that was actually a very intelligent and difficult question to answer. Almost all high schools in the country play by NFHS rules which are not adopting the new NCAA rules in 2010. These new rules may trickle down to NFHS schools in a couple of years but there will be a phase in period to allow these rules to be put in place that is normally around four years long. You can't make the statement that Catholic Prep Schools follow NCAA Rules. Some do and some don't. There is no way to predict how the schools that do follow NCAA rules will adopt the rules as it is completely up to the league of the schools that partake in.

I hope this helps and feel free to ask if you have any further questions. Also, be sure to checkout www.zblax.com for all your lacrosse needs.

Thanks,
Zander
