Question Hey, I'm playing college lacrosse this year and with the new specs, i need a new head. I play LSM/Close D and I was wondering which head would be the best. I was thinking about the Juice, Proton Super power or the Spyne. I'd like one that picks up ground balls the best and has good ball control. Thanks,
Andrew
Answer Andrew,
I would go with the Warrior Spyne. It is a great head for defensemen because of its stiffness. The new Tek-9 polymer plastic makes it much stiffer than regular heads, a must for a defensemen looking to throw big checks. It also has a nice contoured scoop for effortless ground balls.
However, remember that even the best heads will not preform well if they are not strung correctly. One big suggestion I have is to buy the stick unstrung and have it custom strung. Factory stringing is terrible and can really affect your play. I would send the stick to be custom strung by the professionals at ZB Lacrosse Company. You can visit their website at www.zblax.com to see all the different types of pockets they offer (click on the stringing styles/dyes tab). They also offer dyes if you want to customize your stick further. Their customer service, pocket quality, and prices are unmatched anywhere else on the market. Before purchasing your head, you may want to email them at zblaxcompany@gmail.com as they do sell select heads and may have a Spyne in stock.
Hope this helps and feel free to ask if you have any further questions.
